Extended International Support
Commercial Invoice
Overview:
With this release, FreightWise users can now generate a Commercial Invoice from the FreightWise system and add all the necessary international details to a shipment. Commercial Invoices are a required document for the export and import clearance process, used with international orders. Commercial invoices have been a recurring request from FreightWise clients and prospects and this functionality expands our international talk track.
Implementation:
Commercial Invoices can be generated manually through the FreightWise UI or through a new document retrieval endpoint in the Public API.
New data fields were added to FreightWise UI and Public API in order to generate the correct information on the commercial invoice. These fields were added to the shipment and the shipment commodity panel and will populate when the origin and destination countries do not match indicating an international shipment.
On a Shipment:
- Reason for Export
- Terms of Sale
- Sold to (If other than Consignee)
- Customs Broker
On the Shipment Commodity Panel and in Commodity Management:
- HS Code
- Unit Price
- C/O (Country of Origin)
- Total Price
Below will show details on the new UI changes. Please refer to the FreightWise Swagger docs to see the updates on the Shipment Public API.
These new data fields will show in a new ‘International Details’ step on the Shipment Step by Step creation process when the shipment is international.
Once a shipment is created, these fields will also show on the main Shipment Panel.
The new commodity fields will show on the Commodity editor popup and on the main panel. These fields will only show when the shipment is international.
International details can also be added to the commodity management screen to auto populate on a commodity. Navigation: Data Management → Commodities → New or Edit
Print the Commercial invoice through the Invoice button at the top of the shipment panel or through the gear icon ‘Print Commercial Invoice’ option.

FedEx Parcel Labels to Canada
Overview:
This release we added the ability to manifest FedEx parcel labels to Canada.
Implementation:
In order to manifest a FedEx label to Canada, each commodity must have a ‘Unit Price Amt’ added. This field will show on the commodity editor for an international shipment. After adding this amount, the FedEx Parcel labels to Canada will follow the standard label process.
Enhanced Carrier Connectivity
FedEx Direct Implementation
Overview:
FedEx Direct is an extended set of LTL services offered on top of the FedEx Freight pricing. These are generically referred to as “White Glove” in the industry. Upon printing the BOL document, FedEx will return a Pro# assigned to the shipment. Schedule pickup through the API as normal.

Improved User Experience
Enhanced Linking of Shipment and Freight Invoices
Overview:
Shipments and Freight Invoices are now fully linked allowing for full data translation through the shipment lifecycle. This means if a client is fully executing a shipment in FreightWise starting from either an order or a shipment, all reference numbers and the GL Codes will translate to the final Freight Bill and Client Invoice.
With this update, optional columns were added to the Freight Bills and Shipment Grids to see the link to the corresponding entity. Gain a basic accrual report by adding the “Freight Bill” column to the shipments grid. This data will show a linked Freight Invoice once it has been audited. This data will also download to the grid CSV to provide reporting capabilities.
Implementation:
On the Freight Bills grid, add the BOL/Shipment column to see the linked original shipment.
On the Shipments grid, add the Freight Bill column to see which shipments have been invoice. Download the CSV of the grid to use this data as a basic accrual report.
Accessorial Symbol Updates
Overview:
In this release, we have updated the accessorial symbols and tooltips on rating to create a more clear user experience on which accessorials were included in the rate.
- If no accessorials are requested or rated, the tooltip will show “No Accessorials”
- If accessorials were added, the tooltip will show which successfully or unsuccessfully rated
- If the carrier or a CRTA return accessorials that were not in the original request, a new message icon will show with the tooltip listing the accessorials.
Implementation:
No implementation required.
Blind Shipment BOL Update
Overview:
Blind BOLs were added to the FreightWise system in Q1 2024. With this release, we have updated the Blind Shipment BOL to show the name of the Consignee on the BOL and Labels.
Implementation:
Blind BOLs can be generated from the gear icon on a shipment or BOL.
For additional implementation details, see
QR code on Shipment BOL Labels
Overview:
BOL PDF labels generated from the Shipments tab will now have a QR code on them allowing the corresponding shipment to be opened in the mobile app.
Implementation:
The QR code will automatically show on your Shipment BOL labels. If you do not wish to have these show, please contact your account manager to have these turned off.
