Enhanced User Experience

A New Look for FreightWise

Overview: This quarter we have introduced new branding for FreightWise. With this rebrand we've updated our system with new brand colors throughout the application to reflect our rebrand, providing a more visually appealing and consistent experience.

Implementation:

Improved Grids for Enhanced Data Management

Overview:

  • The Insurance, Claims, and Client Invoice grids have all been updated with new functionalities. Users can now easily filter columns, export data to a CSV file for in-depth analysis, and rearrange columns to customize your view.
  • For improved usability on desktop PCs, a scroll bar now appears at the bottom of grids, allowing for easier navigation across wide datasets.

Implementation:

  • No implementation is needed for these grids.
  • See the grid guide video here to learn more about filtering, rearranging columns, and exporting the data to a CSV.

Operational Efficiency

Direct Claims Creation from Shipments

Overview:

  • In Q2, we added the ability to create a claim directly from an associated shipment, significantly reducing manual data entry and ensuring accuracy. Essential fields will automatically transfer over, and the entities will be linked, providing clear traceability between the claim and its corresponding shipment. This enhancement simplifies your claims process and improves record-keeping.
  • Additionally, when a client user creates a claim from a shipment, they will be shown a “Submit to FreightWise” button that moves the claim into the “To be Filed” state to indicate the a FreightWise team member will have to finalize the claim on behalf of the client.

Implementation:

  • The option to create a claim from a shipment will automatically populate for users.

NMFC Updates for Commodity Management

Overview:

NMFTA has updated their industry standards on calculating NMFC. The reimagination aims to simplify it, improve user experience, increase classification efficiency, and reduce friction between shippers, carriers, and 3PLs. These changes are projected to be live industry wide on July 19, 2025.

To accommodate for these changes, in this release we made adjustments to the FreightWise system to ensure that our class calculators reflect industry standards as well as enhanced commodity management to allow users to easily update existing commodities to new details.

Implementation

  • No set up required for these changes.
  • The FreightWise density calculator shows on the commodity editor popup and on the density calculator. Both of these locations have been updated.

  • FreightWise commodity management has also been updated to include:
    • The ability to mass delete commodities. Select 1 or more commodities to see the option to delete.

Seamless Integrations

Introducing FreightWise Connect Desktop Application

Overview:

  • We’ve created a new desktop application called FreightWise Connect to serve as a dedicated hub for printer and scale integrations. This specialized app allows users to leverage these integrations directly from FreightWise in their web browser, streamlining shipping processes and reducing manual steps.
  • How does this differ from the existing FreightWise desktop application? The existing FreightWise application enables printer integrations but requires the user to execute shipments from the desktop application instead of using FreightWise in the web browser.

FreightWise connect currently supports 3 primary functions:

  1. Document Printing - Any local or network printers can be connected to print documents such as Bill of Ladings, Packing List, etc
  2. Label Printing - Zebra Network printers can be connected to print LTL and Parcel Labels
  3. Scale integration - Fairbanks Scales can currently be set up through the application

Implementation:

To download the application & best practices

  • PC Users can download the FreightWise Connect app at open.freightwise.app
  • Once the application is downloaded, it must be running on a device in order for the integrations to work on FreightWise in the Web browser.
  • Please ensure that you do not have FreightWise Connect and the old FreightWise application running at the same time.

See Guidde step by step video on how to set up your printers and Fairbanks scales here.
